Lexington County Peach Festival Awards 2011 Scholarships
October 16, 2011
This year marked 53 years for the Lexington County Peach Festival’s July 4th celebration. Throughout those years, volunteers have been the heart of the Festival’s success. For more than 20 of those years, graduating high school students could qualify for scholarships from the Gilbert Community Club after volunteering at least three years with the Festival. Students receiving scholarships in 2011 are Marla Cotterman, Patrick Howard, Cole Jennings, Adrianna Kennedy, Jonathan Kyzer, Justin S. Miller, Reta Miller, Samantha Jean Montgomery, Brittney Oswald, Eryn Price, Nathaniel C. Price, Brittany Prouse, Brian Tyler Richardson, Jacob Glen Seigler, Wade A. Tankersley, and Shelby Townsend. Each year hundreds of volunteers of all ages donate their time and energy to the Lexington County Peach Festival. In order to qualify for a Peach Festival Community Service Scholarship of $350, a student must work a total of six hours per year for at least three years during the student’s high school years. The Gilbert Community Club’s hope is that these students will return and remain a part of the Festival’s success and tradition, continuing to volunteer.
